Therapeutic Pilates, Gyrotonic Exercise and Yoga
I primarily use a combination of pilates, gyrotonic exercise, yoga and physical therapy techniques to treat patients and work with clients. After our initial assessment I determine what forms of movement are best for you. Using these forms of movements not only allows me to provide optimal treatments and programs but also introduces you to forms of movement that you can continue performing for the rest of your life.
I look at the body as a whole. I'm not just treating the shoulder or just treating the knee. I assess your injury or pain from the perspective of how you use and move your whole body on a daily basis. By changing how you use and move your whole body I will help you balance your body, heal current injuries and prevent future injuries. Pilates, gyrotonic exercise and yoga are forms of movement that help to balance the body and the mind.
I assess your health history and evaluate your current physical condition to develop a program that will help you heal and regain balance in the body. I teach you what exercises are best for you and how to perform them correctly. I teach you how to attain proper posture and use proper body mechanics and ergonomics in your daily life. I educate you so that you learn how the body works and can become pro-active about your health. I provide you with exercises that simulate what we do at the studio so you can work on your program everyday.
Home Exercise Programs
One of the keys to successful physical therapy and movement programs is a detailed home exercise program performed correctly. I provide you with detailed home exercise programs that help you balance your body, prevent future injuries and keep you healthy and fit forever. I teach you how to perform all exercises and movements with proper form. All programs take into account your health history, current fitness level, lifestyle and goals.
Basic Home Exercise Program:
You will be instructed in a unique home exercise program focused on specific exercises that will help you heal from your current injury and balance the body. It is important to start with basic exercises and gradually progress your program as the body heals.
Prevention Home Exercise program:
You will be instructed in a unique prevention program that will prevent future pain, injuries and imbalances. This program will continue to help you balance your body.
Maintenance Home Exercise program:
I work with you to develop a maintenance home exercise program that will help you keep your body balanced and reach your health and fitness goals. For optimal results it is suggested you get updates every 4-8 weeks to progress and change your maintenance program. Regular updates prevent the body from accommodating to your exercise program and allow you to continue to progress.
