What is Holistic Nutrition?

Holistic nutrition is based on the holistic, natural and preventative principles of health.  It addresses the nutritional needs of the whole body taking into account your health history, genetic traits, detoxification and digestive health, acid/alkali balance and lifestyle requirements.  By combining a variety of dietary strategies, holistic nutrition allows for an effective, customized nutritional program for you.

Dietary Strategies for Optimal Health

Balanced Diet: focuses on providing a complete intake of macro and micro-nutrients through the diet by selecting nutrient-rich, whole and natural foods.

Alkalizing Diet: focuses on providing alkalizing foods in the diet in order to maintain a healthy pH in the body, which is essential for health and vitality on all levels.

Food Combining: focuses on combining foods in order to maximize their digestion and assimilation in the body and reduce toxic residues caused by improper digestion.

Raw Foods: focuses on incorporating raw foods within the diet to maximize the enzymatic function of foods, which facilitates their digestion and assimilation in the body.

Allergy Elimination / Food Rotation: focuses on elimination of food allergens and other antagonizing elements from the diet in order to support digestive and immune health.

Detoxification: focuses on using decongesting and detoxifying foods in the diet in order to support the elimination of toxins from the body.

A well organized healthy kitchen is essential when you are trying to eat healthy and change your habits. I come to your home, help you “trash the crap”, reorganize your kitchen and stock it with healthy foods.  I will make preparing healthy meals and snacks easy and fun.

Healthy Grocery Store Tour

Learning to eat healthy means learning how to navigate the grocery store and buy healthy foods. I accompany you to the grocery store or market and teach you how to shop for whole real foods.  I teach you to read labels so you can make educated choices when choosing what foods to purchase. Eating well does not mean giving up all the foods you love. I introduce you to healthy alternatives to all the foods you just can't live without.

Healthy Meal and Snack Planning

I assess your daily schedule and lifestyle and work with you to develop weekly menus and healthy meals and snacks that fit your lifestyle. If you are on-the-go all day I will teach you snacks and meals that travel well. If you hate to cook I will teach easy techniques for preparing healthy meals and snacks.

Healthy Daily Eating Rituals

I introduce you to daily rituals that will allow you to enjoy the process of eating. For instance how you digest and assimilate food is affected by the atmosphere you are eating in and the people you are eating with. So take the time to set the table and invite friends you love over for a home prepared meal. Another example is taking the time to sit down and enjoy breakfast in an atmosphere that energizes you for the day.

I will teach you practical and simple food preparation, raw food preparation and cooking techniques that allow you to feed yourself and your family in a nourishing, convenient way. I provide you with the tools to prepare healthy on-the-go meals and quick and easy meals at home. We are what we eat!! Drink More Water and Enjoy It

One of the best things you can do to improve your health is drink more water. Make it a priority to drink clean filtered water throughout the day. Add cucumber, lemon or lime slices to add flavor. Start the day with warm water with lemon to help cleanse the body. Eat loads of raw fruits and vegetables which have a high water content. If you drink caffeine remember to drink even more water to make up for its dehydrating effects.
